I hope it's okay to ask here.
Is anyone willing to unAustralianize my J/D fic? My latest is an 18 000 word drama with unrequited love on Jack's part although it ends on a positive note. There is lots of Daniel angst and it's set in season 7.

This isn't an offer to beta since I'm not American either, but I wanted to ask why you wanted to unAustralianise your fic? Just curious.

I don't remember at what point I decided this, but while I want dialogue between characters and internal monologues to sound authentic, I'm more than happy to keep my Canadian spelling throughout.

It's been pointed out to me on numerous occasions that when I use words like 'lift' instead of 'elevator', 'torch' instead of 'flashlight' and other such terms that I don't even know are NOT American, even if it is not part of dialogue, the reader is taken out of the story. Likewise if I use Australian spelling. I have gone on my merry way not worrying too much about this in the past and actually digging my heels in at one point about one particular term, but now that I am older and (hopefully) wiser, I have started heeding the advice of those I respect, and they tell me that I really need to unAustralianise my stories in every way if I want people to read them. My normal beta is an Aussie like me, hence the request.
On a personal level, spelling, terms etc don't bother me in the least when I'm reading, but I can (NOW) see how such things would really bother others.
